We forge games that players can't put down

SavagePixelForge is a London-based studio building original titles, co-developing with publishers, and stress-testing gameplay until it sings. From first prototype to launch day.

The studio

A tight crew that ships polished, playable worlds

Founded on Rivington Street in 2016

Founded on Rivington Street in 2016

We started as four developers sharing a desk above a Shoreditch coffee roaster. Today we're a 22-person studio of engineers, artists, and designers who still sit within earshot of one another — every decision is made in the room, not in a spreadsheet.

Prototype-first, always

Prototype-first, always

Before a single line of production code is written, we build a rough, playable prototype in under three weeks. If the core loop isn't fun on grey boxes, no amount of art will save it. This is where most of our roadmaps get sharper.

We playtest with real people, weekly

We playtest with real people, weekly

Every Thursday we run moderated sessions with players from our community. We watch where they get stuck, where they smile, and where they quit — then we act on it before the next build. Nothing ships on a hunch.

SavagePixelForge took our vertical slice from janky to genuinely exciting in nine weeks. The Thursday playtest footage changed how our whole team thinks about onboarding.

As a solo dev, I needed engineers I could trust in my codebase. Their co-dev pod fixed our frame pacing and shipped a boss encounter I couldn't have built alone.

The QA report wasn't a spreadsheet of nonsense — it was clips of real players rage-quitting the exact tutorial we thought was fine. Worth every pound.

Good to know

Questions we get asked before every project

How long does a typical game project take?

Original titles usually run 6 to 18 months depending on scope and platform. We break every engagement into milestones with a playable build at the end of each one, so you always know exactly where the project stands. Smaller prototypes and slices can be delivered in as little as three to six weeks.

Do you own the game, or do we?

You do. On client work all intellectual property, source code, and assets transfer to you on final payment. We only retain the right to show finished work in our portfolio, and even that we'll waive under NDA if you need it kept quiet before launch.

Which engines and platforms do you work with?

Our core pipelines are Unreal Engine and Unity, and we ship to PC (Steam), consoles, iOS, and Android. If your project already lives in a bespoke or in-house engine, our co-development team is comfortable working directly in your existing codebase and toolchain.

Can you join a project that's already in production?

Absolutely — that's what our co-development service is for. We embed a pod of engineers and artists into your team, using your repo, your rituals, and your tooling. Most co-dev partners are up and committing meaningful work within the first week.

How do payments and contracts work?

We work on fixed-scope milestones with a deposit up front and staged payments as each milestone is accepted, or on a monthly retainer for co-development. Everything is covered by a plain-English contract and a mutual NDA before any code is written.

Are you able to visit or meet in person?

Yes. Our studio is on Rivington Street in Shoreditch and we welcome partners to visit for kick-offs and reviews. For teams outside London we run the same sessions over video, with recorded playtest footage shared afterwards.
